Carrier add-ons

How to connect DHL

Connecting DHL to RetJet: API data from your contract, account number, label format, and what your customer sees after setup.

DHL connects as an add-on, not a sales channel. It isn’t used to look up orders, only to create and track return shipments, so it’s configured in a different part of the dashboard.

What you need from your contract

The integration runs on your own contract with DHL. Prepare the three pieces of data the carrier issues together with API access:

  • API login,
  • API password,
  • DHL customer account number.

You’ll get all three from your DHL account manager. A RetJet account doesn’t replace them, and they can’t be generated on our side.

Set up the add-on in RetJet

  1. Log in to RetJet and go to the “Add-ons” section.
  2. Choose “DHL” and enter the login, password, and account number.
  3. Pick the label format DHL should use for return shipments. You can choose PDF labels in thermal or A4 format, and QR-code variants.
  4. Save the settings.

When you save, RetJet checks the data against DHL. If any of the three values is wrong, the add-on won’t be enabled and you’ll see a message instead of a silent failure on your customer’s first return.

Decide when the add-on should be visible

In the add-on’s settings you can turn it off separately for returns and for warranty claims. That’s useful when you want to cover the shipping cost for only one of those processes and leave the choice to the customer in the other.

What your customer sees

Once the add-on is enabled, a button for creating a DHL return shipment appears in the request form. The customer fills in the sender’s details and package parameters, and gets back a shipment number along with a label to download.

The parcel can be dropped off three ways: at a DHL POP point, at a DHL POP BOX locker, or by ordering a courier pickup. It can also be shipped without printing the label: write the shipment number on the box and give it at the point, or enter it at the locker.

The shipment number is saved to the request right away, so the parcel is linked to the case before it even reaches the warehouse.
